"Mummy, what is that singing? And this sound, do you hear? Do animals speak? Oh, mommy, did you see ?? Why is this bird so small and so ... colorful? "- the children have periods when they don't seem to stop asking. The parents' role is to promote this curiosity, by stimulating the little ones to carefully observe reality, deepen their knowledge and reward them with a smile of sensitivity. Children's curiosity is a fire that is not worth putting out. Although it is sometimes troublesome, it is worth trying to face it.
The more that today there are programs and packages that meet the needs of even the most demanding children. For the most interesting, the educational package "Birds, amphibians, mammals in their surroundings" was created in the form of a CD and several boards with images of animals.
The editors of sosrodzice.pl had the opportunity to test the program. What are our insights? Does the "educational product" have any disadvantages? We also strictly disclose them in this case. Read, especially if you have a small "naturalist" at home.

Good idea

The album 'Birds, amphibians, mammals' contains pictures and descriptions of animals in their natural environment. Particularly rich is the part devoted to birds, which are divided into several categories: birds in the city, forest birds, birds in the countryside, wetland birds, colorful birds.
Each species is described by providing basic information about it, adding a picture and photo. You can also hear the sounds of most birds by turning on the speaker on the computer monitor. And here it is necessary to pay attention: unfortunately, not all descriptions of species, although they are few, have pictures, which may disappoint the little explorer. Not everyone can be listened to either. The publisher could have done better in this respect ...

The amphibian category is the least numerous. There are 18 of them in Poland, while there are only six in the presentation.

In the case of mammals, the most popular mammals of Polish forests were included. 27 animals are described. Of course, not the domesticated type: cow or chicken, but those that occur in the wild. The list includes wild boar, wildcat, wolf, roe deer, etc. And again we have to stop for a moment. On the occasion of mammals, it would be useful to describe in which situations animals make specific sounds. It is no secret that during the mating season, at the time of danger or feeding, individual species "sound different". The publisher does not provide such information. You can feel unsatisfied ...

Interesting facts

The presentation is enriched with many interesting facts. We can learn that pheasant age is easy to assess by looking at the spurs on the legs. Each year, there are more and more distinctive rings that are used in fights with other males.

We read a little further that thrush chicks defend themselves against a predator by banging their noses and letting out the smelly liquid (created by the buyer glands) directly in the eyes of a marten or other animal that is threatening them.

Quiz

At the end of the journey around the world of birds, amphibians and mammals you can take a quiz (two types to choose from). Questions come in two forms: they consist of recognizing the sounds of birds or answering a question. In the first case, the task is relatively simple, the question is asked about, among others, stork, sparrows or magpies - birds that are easy to identify. In the second - you have to head a little more.
Quizzes are short and have a small pool of questions. Their one-time execution actually closes us to play (unless we wait long enough to forget the content of questions and answers).

What does the kit teach?

The multimedia project "Birds, amphibians, mammals in their surroundings" is a study that will appeal to schoolchildren fascinated by nature and observing it with great commitment. It is a proposal for enthusiasts and didactic material helpful during educational classes for parents. Also noteworthy for all those who are not aware of how diverse and rich in terms of species diversity is the nature that surrounds us. Realizing that we belong to a part of it and the child allows us to find ourselves in a large ecosystem and feel responsibility for its individual elements and the whole. Photos and sounds of nature, in turn, give you the opportunity to develop sensitivity and interest in nature, which in everyday rushing world are worth promoting and all efforts. In general, despite the minor shortcomings, we recommend!
