What were the most popular names in 2014?

In Bialystok, Wroclaw, Bydgoszcz and Katowice the most popular name for a boy in 2014 was Jacob. In turn, in Kraków, Łódź, Poznań and Warsaw, boys were most often given a name Jan. They are the unquestioned favorites of the ranking.

There was more variety among female names. In Katowice and Wroclaw, the name reigned supreme Hannah. In Lodz they were most often born Julie. In Kraków and Bydgoszcz the name was the most popular Susanna, and in Warsaw for several years invariably Zofia similarly in Poznań. In Bialystok, the most popular female name in 2014 was the first name Alexander.

Equally popular, because in the top five in 2014 the most frequently given names were: Lena, Kacper, Maja, Antoni, Filip.

Least popular names? Titian, Timur, Jaskier, Rewko, Tamara, Rita, Kora, Klementyna and Leopold.

From March 1, 2015 (i.e. in less than three months) an amendment to the provisions on naming enters into force. Parents will be able to give foreign-sounding names more easily.

For parents who have changed their minds about the chosen name, the good news is that within half a year of giving a name to a child, it's fairly easy, for a fee, to change the name.
