On June 12, 2013, the Speaker of the Sejm managed to submit a request for a referendum on early compulsory sending of children to school. The organizers of the campaign managed to collect about 950 thousand signatures.
Research from the University of Social Sciences in Warsaw shows that every second parentwho sent a six-year-old child to school would not do that today. Parents who have had a choice so far: whether to send their six-year-old children to school, or to leave at home or in kindergarten oppose a top-down provision reducing the age of entry into school. They want to decide for themselves, taking into account the individual characteristics of the child, whether to send a six-year or seven-year-old to school.
The campaign, which is accompanied by the slogan "The reform will not come into force" enjoys great public support. Anna Popek has joined the celebrities who support the actions of thousands of parents across Poland today, who proposed another slogan promoting the action: the words of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry: "You cannot be human unless you resist". The quote seems right because social action from the very beginning showed how great the parents' strength is and how much they can do for their children, and the resistance against the Ministry of National Education unfortunately confirms the need to "fight for their own" and loud attention to basic rights.
